Manchester United faced Chelsea in the Premier League during Sunday afternoon’s blockbuster encounter at Stamford Bridge.
Despite both teams naming much-changed starting teams, including Cristiano Ronaldo dropping down to the bench, it was Thomas Tuchel’s high-flying Blues who had the lion’s share of possession and looked most likely to win the match.
However, after pouncing on an error by midfielder Jorginho, Jadon Sancho opened the game’s scoring in the second half under what seemed unlikely circumstances. Chelsea fought back well though – after Aaron Wan-Bissaka conceded a penalty, Jorginho redeemed himself and cooly slotted the ball past goalkeeper David De Gea.
Despite their dominance though, Chelsea could not score a winner and the game eventually ended 1-1.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, De Gea hailed his teammate’s togetherness and revealed how he believes the side’s defence is faring much better than what it was prior to former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dismissal last week.
🗣 “We feel we are all together fighting for the same things.”
