Man Utd open to selling two stars in Ralf Rangnick’s first transfer window

Speculation over transfers always reaches boiling point whenever a new manager is appointed and although Manchester United are yet to confirm the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, the German is believed to be on the brink of signing for the club.

The 63-year-old will join the club as interim manager until the end of the season before taking up a consultancy role, with an official announcement from Manchester United expected within 48 hours.

The January transfer window is just over one month away, plans are already being drawn up for the former RB Leipzig chief, according to reports.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United will look to offload players this month before allowing Rangnick to make additions to the already bloated squad.

Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson, a struggling pair, will both be considered for moves with the club seemingly open to selling them. Jesse Lingard has just over six months remaining on his current deal and is likely to leave on a free transfer.

As per the terms of his arrival, Rangnick will have just one transfer window in charge of the team but is unlikely to make wholesale changes to the squad.

SN’s verdict on the two Man Utd stars in danger…
David de Gea’s terrific form this season has certainly put Henderson in a bit of a pickle – the England international was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first choice at the end of last season but after having his pre-season cut short due to COVID-19, he has now lost his place to his Spanish counterpart.

De Gea is enjoying his best season in several years and is arguably the club’s outstanding performer so far, leaving Henderson with little chance of reclaiming that spot.

Henderson signed a new long-term contract last year and should he leave, United would be in their right to demand a handsome transfer fee from any potential suitors.

The curious case of Van de Beek will rumble on but a January exit would make sense if he continues to be on the periphery on the new manager. There are, however, reasons to believe that the Dutchman would thrive under Rangnick’s high-pressing philosophy.

Van de Beek flourished in a similar system at Ajax and although he is yet to impress in the red of United, he could certainly turn the corner for good under Rangnick.

  1. If Rangnick does take over he will have a month to decide on players required but I would be amazed if Donny is not in his plans as he fits Rangnicks style. I’ve always felt that Donny would be a better fit with Liverpool due to their style. There are a few others within the team who don’t fit that style.

  2. I think Donny will stay. It’s more likely that Pogba, Ronaldo, and Martial will be the ones to leave. I can’t see them fitting in to the pressing style that Rangnick will want to play.

  3. pls ralf ranknick don sale van de beek and dean hendeson becouse donny is a refplace of pogba hendeson is de gea refplace so dat care most be takeng we man u sporters these is our advice to you

  4. Maguire and wan bissaka needs to go first and then Luke Shaw. Look for a new center back to partner with Rafa Varane. Bring in a new strong defensive midfielder like Hojberg of Spurs.

  5. Don’t sell Donny and Dean
They have future just a matter of time
Fred is not good enough for man you.
You have to replace him with a good dmf.
    Sell Fred and Maguire.
Bring Pau Torres and Kounde with a DMF.
Man u won’t have any problem in that team.
We just need someone to Defend so we can push forward to the midfield and finally to strikers for goals.
Fred was poor at last minutes when he has the chance to score against Chelsea but doesn’t have a goal sense.
