BBC editor claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to get sacked

This has turned into a night shift with regular updates coming out of Manchester United’s emergency board meeting over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future following the 4-1 defeat against Watford.

Sky Sports claim the hierarchy remained undecided after a conference meeting, held at 7pm, as per The Times, but there has been more updates since from respected reporters.

BBC digital editor Howard Nurse reports that Solskjaer is “likely” to get sacked after the 4-1 defeat on Saturday, which means we could have a new manager in charge for the trip to Villarreal.

Friend of the Strettycast and respected journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted earlier this evening that part of the board is pushing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be sacked.

That is pretty damning.

I took to Twitter myself, questioning why Joel Glazer is the one to make the final call on Solskjaer, however, we nobody would be surprised by the answer. John Murtough is a figurehead director of football – not really carrying out the duties you’d expect from a man in his position.

Murtough is probably part of the ongoing talks over Solskjaer’s future but this is a football decision. One Ed Woodward has stuck his nose into many times before and let’s not forget how many managers he appointed in recent years.

The Sun seems pretty adamant that the Norwegian will be sacked, too.

Neil Custis believes Solskjaer has took charge of his final game as United manager.

Will Woodward decide on the next man? Or Richard Arnold? Someone else from the cult?
