Raphael Varane shares fitness update from Carrington

Raphael Varane is working hard to reach full fitness again.

The French defender sustained a hamstring injury in a Champions League match against Atalanta and missed two big games against Liverpool and Man City as a result.

Manchester United have defend abysmally in Varane’s absence and the sooner he returns the better.

Harry Maguire has been shocking this season and neither Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly can be trusted if United are to get to where they need to be.

The Guardian gave a timeline for Varane’s return and suggested he would be out for at least one month.

Varane has uploaded a picture to Instagram of himself training on a bike at Carrington, including a caption with a message for his fans, saying: “Turn frustration into motivation and come back stronger!”

The former Real Madrid has suffered two spells out with injuries since signing for United in the summer. That has acted as a setback since Varane has only managed six Premier League appearances this term.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like he will be back in time to face Watford on Saturday.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer will have to decide whether he plays four or five at the back after testing a 5-3-2 in recent games. It worked well against Spurs but less so against Atalanta and Man City.
