Opinion: No coming back if Solskjaer loses Manchester United dressing room

This is the one thing no manager can afford to let happen and it is being dressed up in the mainstream media as a “revolt”, but those headlines are always sensationalist.

Manchester United’s plans to keep Solskjaer in charge may be thrown into further disarray after two heavy defeats against arch-rivals in a matter of two weeks, with the Daily Mail suggesting doubts are growing within the dressing room.

Chris Wheeler states Bruno Fernandes is among the players who feel as though they aren’t being given clear directions by the manager or his staff. Another scathing assessment came with a claim some players feel too many young coaches are learning on the job.

United is somewhere you will always learn but at first-team level our coaches should be top drawer, especially when you have some of the best players in the world. They deserve it and so do the fans.

It is clear to see when well-coached teams come to Old Trafford and play us off the park, we usually have no response other than hope Cristiano Ronaldo can lift us to safety.

Ronaldo is said to be “shocked” at how far the standards have slipped at United and Donny van de Beek’s team-mates don’t understand why he hasn’t been given more games.

None of this reads well for Solskjaer, who is feeling non-stop pressure as it is, and he must do something special to turn things around.

United have four huge Premier League matches after the international break – Watford, Chelsea, Arsenal, Crystal Palace – and they will be needing to secure at least 9 points from those fixtures.

However bad things are, it is understood Solskjaer will be in charge at Watford, as per The Guardian.

Anything less and we should forget about competing this term.

He won’t last long if the players are turning, though, because once that poison kicks in it can be lethal.

There was no fight in the performances against Liverpool and Man City and that’s a big worry. Perhaps the initial signs that the players had thrown the towel in?
