(Video) “I believe I deserved longer” – David Moyes forever missing the Manchester United job

Time and time again David Moyes will pop up in an interview expressing his belief that he deserved more time at Manchester United. Sky Sports have done another interview with the West Ham manager – shortly before Dean Smith’s sacking at Aston Villa was announced.

Dean Smith becomes the fifth Premier League manager to get the sack this season.

But with West Ham doing really well under the Scottish manager this season, we knew it wouldn’t be long before David Moyes expressed those views again with an even bigger chip on his shoulder.

“I believe I deserved longer,” Moyes told Sky Sports in the lead up to West Ham’s Super Sunday clash against Liverpool.

He was sacked after 10 months in the role and his successor, Louis van Gaal, didn’t last very long either but managed to win the FA Cup before his sacking.

The bottom line, however, is Moyes never deserved the United job – and to replace the greatest manager of all-time with someone who had won nothing was an utter disgrace.

He had done a good sustainable job at Everton but more was bound to be demanded at United. He wasn’t ready and I still can’t believe he was a recommendation of Sir Alex Ferguson.

It set us back for years and United are still recovering from bad mistakes following Fergie’s retirement.

SN’s verdict…

Firstly, sad news regarding Dean Smith, who did a very good job at Villa. I hope whoever comes in at Villa Park keeps Axel Tuanzebe as part of their plans for the coming season at least.

Moyes is still clearly missing that opportunity he had to manage the biggest club in the world. Nobody blames him for that but surely he felt blessed to get the job in the first place.

You think of the names United should have went for at the time – at least three were proven winners across Europe.

Moyes had done well at a mid-table Premier League side… like he’s doing now!
