Leeds fans sing ‘Ole’s at the wheel’ chant during defeat to Arsenal in League Cup

Arsenal knocked Leeds United out of the Carabao Cup on the same night the Sheep took it upon themselves to focus on Manchester United.

In a plea for social media clicks to stay relevant, fans of the 17th placed side in the Premier League seem to be more worried about our manager than their own.

Marcelo Bielsa may get a lot of smoke blown up his rear end, but teams know what they are going to get against them every week. He’s hardly made Leeds a team to worry about, so hopefully they suffer relegation again.

The Leeds fans sung ‘Ole’s at the wheel’ during their clash with Arsenal, as per the Daily Star, and lost the match 2-0 at the Emirates.

The phrase was made famous after former United defender Rio Ferdinand called upon the board to give Solskjaer the job, after he impressed as caretaker manager following Jose Mourinho’s sacking in late 2018.

“Man United might not thank me, but get the contract out, put it on the table, let him sign it, let him write whatever numbers he wants to put on there – given what he’s done since he’s come in – and let him sign the contract and go,” Ferdinand said as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“Ole’s at the wheel, man – he’s doing his thing. Man United are back!”

Verdict

Liverpool fans chanted the same on Sunday during United’s embarrassing 5-0 defeat.

The Stretford End reminded the away section that the Reds have won 20 league titles (20 > 19), non-stop for the final 15 minutes.

I would, of course, do the same if it was a rival’s manager feeling the pressure – but I’m not sure Leeds are in a position to do so.

United beat Leeds 6-2 last season and 5-1 on the opening day of the current campaign.
