(Video) Gary Neville laments ‘monstrous day’ for Man Utd after collapse vs. Liverpool

The reactions from Manchester United’s latest defeat are flooding in and Gary Neville, the former right-back at Old Trafford, has been particularly scathing in his assessment of his former side.

Tensions were already high ahead of kick-off and within the first couple of minutes, the difference in class, ability, and cohesion was clear as Liverpool took control of the 90-minute affair – a game Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needed to win. The visitors scored five, yes five, goals in total and could’ve doubled that.

In truth, Liverpool were in third gear for most of the game and still managed to brush aside the turgid United side – yet another sign of Solskjaer’s deteriorating impact at the club.

In the past, Manchester United fans have been right to feel that Neville has been unnecessarily harsh on his former club but his sentiment is shared by the Old Trafford faithful after Sunday’s collapse.

Stretty News Verdict

It’s going to be a tough week for Solskjaer after the five-goal thumping. United don’t play again until next week when they make the trip to Tottenham and should the Norwegian still be in the job by then, only victory will suffice.
