Pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is increasing with each passing day and Sunday’s humiliating defeat to Liverpool could prove to be the tipping point for the Old Trafford hierarchy.

Jurgen Klopp’s side comfortably dealt with Solskjaer’s tame side and were by far the better team from start to finish. An early goal from Naby Keita was the first of five as Liverpool recorded their biggest Premier League win at Old Trafford ever.

Earlier on Monday, reports started funneling through over Antonio Conte’s future and the possibility of the former Chelsea and Inter manager replacing Solskjaer at Manchester United.

A report from CaughtOffside claimed that Conte’s next destination would almost certainly be the Premier League, whilst journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed he would be open to listening to proposals.

Italian publication CalcioMercato, via Sport Witness have now gone one step further, claiming that talks between Manchester United and Conte are already ‘underway’ and that the former Juventus boss has become the club’s priority.

Stretty News Verdict

Manchester United’s support of Solskjaer has been unequivocal up til now but as opposed to last week’s defeat to Leicester, there has yet to be public backing of the Norwegian after the Liverpool loss.

That could be down to a number of reasons but it does feel like the inevitable will happen. The only question is when the club decides to pull the trigger on the club legend.
