Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd board ‘disappointed’ and ‘shocked’ after humiliating Liverpool defeat

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position at Manchester United is under increasing scrutiny following Sunday’s embarrassing 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool. The defeat leaves Manchester United winless in their last four Premier League games, with three of them ending in defeats.

Solskjaer’s side were shambolic from start to finish and amid the increasing pressure on the Norwegian’s position, there are fresh updates from the developments at Old Trafford.

According to journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Manchester United board were ‘disappointed’ and ‘shocked’ after the thumping by Liverpool.

Romano does, however, stress that no decision has been taken over Solskjaer’s future and that no emergency meeting was held at board level after the game.

Romano also gave an update on potential replacements, with reports of Antonio Conte unwilling to take the Old Trafford job flagged as not true. According to the Italian, Conte would be open to listening to potential proposals from Manchester United.

Stretty News Verdict

Following last week’s defeat at Leicester City, fans were immediately briefed by the club as they reiterated their backing of Solskjaer. That didn’t happen after the mishap against Liverpool and clearly, there are now rumblings of uncertainty surrounding the Norwegian’s job.

It remains to be seen whether Solskjaer is in charge of the club for next week’s clash with Tottenham but after signing a three-year-deal last summer, it would be to no one’s surprise to see Solskjaer in the dugout.
