You could see the delight in Sir Alex Ferguson’s face when the full-time whistle meant Scott McTominay’s stoppage-time goal was crucial in Scotland’s win over Israel in a World Cup qualifier.
The Manchester United midfielder turned in a goal after a well delivered corner kick with Scotland after equalising to make it 2-2. This saw them take the lead and eventually claim three important points in a bid to qualify for next year’s World Cup.
Former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was in attendance and you could see he was happy as the full-time whistle was blown, not just with McTominay getting on the scoresheet but it being such a crucial goal for Scotland’s World Cup chances.

It’s always been club over country for me, so it’s always good to see the United lads do well on international duty.
And it’s always great to see a smile on Sir Alex’s face.
