Manchester United loanee Tahith Chong has enjoyed a sparkling loan spell so far at Birmingham, with the young Dutch winger impressing fans under Lee Bowyer this season.
Chong was part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pre-season squad and even scored the first goal in this year’s preparations, against Wayne Rooney’s Derby County, before linking up with his new teammates at Birmingham.
The 21-year-old marked his debut for the club by being awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ award and he hasn’t looked back since, with Bowyer singing his praises for his impact.
Chong has now revealed that he has kept in touch with some of the coaching staff at Manchester United as he continues his development domestically, having previously undergone two short-term loan spells at Werder Bremen and Club Brugge.
“Yeah, it’s always nice to hear from him, and that he’s watching the games as well. That’s good. The coaches and staff are obviously in contact after the games,” he told the official Manchester United website when asked if he has kept in touch with Solskjaer.

“I’ve got Darren Fletcher and Kieran [McKenna] and, like I say, even the manager sometimes texting me. You know, after matches, it can be a ‘well done’ or ‘well done, you can improve on this and this’ and, to be honest, the contact has been very good.
“Les [Parry] has been calling and I think he’s even been at most of the games. That’s nice, to have that as well, to stay in contact and sometimes we analyse and speak about the games.”
Upon his return to Manchester United next summer, Chong will have just one year remaining on his deal at the Old Trafford club and an assessment will need to be made.
