Real Madrid and Barcelona fighting to sign Man United attacker in January

According to recent reports, Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are both keen to try and sign Manchester United attacker Edinson Cavani once the January transfer window opens.

That’s according to a recent report from El Nacional, who claims the South American could be heading for the Old Trafford exit this winter.

Cavani, 34, joined the Red Devils on deadline day last summer on a free transfer after his contract with Paris-Saint Germain expired earlier that year.

Since his arrival in Manchester, the 34-year-old has gone on to feature in 43 matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to 23 goals, along the way.

However, with age very much against him and following the re-signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, Cavani has seen his playing chances reduced.

Reportedly unhappy with life under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, El Nacional suggest the Uruguay international would welcome a move in January.

It has been noted that a short-term loan until the striker’s contract expires, which is next summer, could be on the cards.

Real Madrid and Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona have both been credited with having an interest.
