Nine-season veteran considering his future at Manchester United

Manchester United star Juan Mata is considering his future at the club, according to reports. The experienced Spaniard signed a one-year extension at the club following the end of last season but could now leave in January.

Mata started last week’s Carabao Cup encounter with West Ham but that remains his sole appearance this season after featuring heavily during pre-season.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 33-year-old is now considering his future at the club amid a lack of first-team action this season.

Mata’s contract is thought to be his last at the club and with the deal running down, he is free to speak to foreign clubs over a pre-agreement.

Mata joined Manchester United from Chelsea in 2014 and has now played in nine seasons for the club, solidifying himself as one of the longest-serving players at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rapidly growing frontline has, however, limited his playing time since the Norwegian took over in 2018 and an exit could now be on the horizon for the former Spain international.

  1. Shouldn’t have signed a contract extension in the first place. Nice fella who won’t be short of suitors.I think LaLiga would be a good port of call for him.all the best.
