Dean Henderson wants loan move after De Gea takes back No. 1 spot

Dean Henderson is reportedly pushing to leave Manchester United on loan in January after David de Gea reclaimed No. 1 status at Old Trafford.

The goalkeeper, who graduated from the club’s academy, was handed an extended run in the team last season following De Gea’s return to Spain for the birth of his child.

But his hopes of becoming first choice keeper this season were dashed after he tested positive for coronavirus, which carried on into the season as he suffered with fatigue.

In turn, this means De Gea has played every game in all competitions, making a crucial penalty save in the last-minute against West Ham on Sunday.

Henderson’s only appearance came with the U23s this season, so he is getting closer to a return to the first team. Maybe tonight against in the Carabao Cup?

Cup matches won’t be enough for Henderson this season and he hopes a loan move could hand him the minutes he needs on the pitch, as per The Sun.

The report adds Solskjaer was willing to persevere with Henderson between the sticks until he got COVID.

We’ve all been impressed by De Gea this season and now it’s down to Henderson to show he is the better one to select.

  1. A loan deal is a good one given de Gea’s resurgence.Still young with a promising future ahead of him.I hope Man U won’t be quick to sell.

    1. Agree, alas I only think De Gea is playing well because of Henderson’s presence. I think he should stay and hopefully prove himself in cup games, after all we need a good keeper if we are to hopefully win The Cup again.
