(Video) McTominay marks return with exquisite pass to set up opportunity

West Ham were leading 1-0 after a lucky deflection off Raphael Varane from a long-range effort, but Manchester United responded like they did so many times on the road last season to win the match and secure three points.

Although he didn’t seem 100% match fit, Scott McTominay’s presence in midfield was felt and it was great to see him return to the starting line-up.

Many feared he would have had to spend a longer time in the treatment room after requiring surgery, but he recovered pretty quickly.

It is a huge bonus to have the Scotland international back.

That was evident on a number of occasions on Sunday, but his pass to Ronaldo after United went a goal down was exquisite.

The Reds responded brilliantly even if in this highlight Ronaldo’s first touch let him down. It was only minutes letter that he tapped in from close range.

United went on to win the game that had plenty of late drama.

Jesse Lingard scored on his return to the London Stadium and David de Gea saved a stoppage-time penalty from Mark Noble to win the game for United.
