Manchester United star hits back at trolls abusing him from “their mum’s spare bedroom”

Phil Jones has slammed the trolls sending him abuse and insists he will have the laugh.

We certainly hope he does and can prove to be an asset to Manchester United again because it’s easy to forget now how much of a promising defender Phil Jones was, when Sir Alex Ferguson signed him from Blackburn Rovers.

However, Jones has completely fallen out of the first-team frame due to injuries and keyboard warriors do their utmost to make fun of him.

Things didn’t work out the way Jones or Ferguson wished, and he hasn’t made a single appearance for the first-team in over 20 months.

Jones has returned with the U23s and is working towards reaching full fitness.

The player himself spoke to The Times and issued a clear message to those who mock and abuse him.

“Every footballer has a tag and unfortunate mine is, ‘Let’s have a laugh at him’,” Jones said.

“But – and I say this in the nicest possible way – I know who’ll have the last laugh.

“I’m proud of my career and when it finishes and I’m enjoying my life – and by the way I’m super fortunate that I’ll be able to do that, because footballers are fortunate – [the keyboard warriors] will still be in their mum’s spare bedroom, supping Diet Pepsi that’s flat, eating a Pot Noodle, sitting in their boxers, tweeting.”

Credit to Jonesy for coming out and talking about this, and ultimately putting the sad trolls in their place.

We all need to be mindful when posting stuff on social media.
