Every summer transfer window, there are some high-profile players looking to sign new contracts at their clubs with a handsome raise. More often than not, Manchester United’s name is brought into it.
That was certainly the case this summer as Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka was linked with a move to Old Trafford amid reports of the German midfielder potentially leaving his club on a free transfer.
From the word go, supporters were very skeptical over links to Goretzka and as time would tell, they were right to be. Earlier on Thursday, the German giants announced a five-year contract extension for their star, ending all speculation over a move to United.

Journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano swiftly confirmed Manchester United were not lining up to sign Goretzka on a free transfer, insisting he was not on their ‘list’, as seen above.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not add a midfielder to his squad in the last window but one can be expected to walk through the gates at Carrington next summer. It won’t be Leon Goretzka, however.
