(Video) Sir Alex Ferguson arrives to watch Cristiano Ronaldo’s second Man Utd debut

Since the news broke that Cristiano Ronaldo would be returning to Old Trafford over two weeks ago, the focus has immediately shifted towards his second debut for the club.

The encounter with Newcastle was quickly suggested to be Ronaldo’s homecoming at Old Trafford and after nearly a full week of training with his new teammates, the 36-year-old is in the starting line-up to face Newcastle.

Ronaldo looked to be dangerously close to joining Pep Guardiola at Manchester City but an intervention from several legendary figures at Manchester United swayed him towards Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson is said to have played a major role in Ronaldo’s return and to no one’s surprise, he is in attendance, as per usual, to watch the former Juventus and Real Madrid forward in action.

As added by the commentator above, only Ferguson and Ronaldo will truly know how much of an influence he really was on the deal but it fits into the narrative for many United supporters.

In addition to Ronaldo, summer signings Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho were also named in the starting eleven to face Newcastle.
