Cristiano Ronaldo to start training at Man Utd on Wednesday

Last week, it was confirmed that Manchester United had sealed a sensational return to the club for Cristiano Ronaldo. The 36-year-old left the club in 2009 but is now set to make his second debut.

Ronaldo was supposed to be on international duty but after picking up a suspension for their final game, he was released early and could travel to Manchester. After landing last week, the former Juventus and Real Madrid star is currently isolating for five days before he can start training with his new teammates.

According to ESPN, Ronaldo will start training at Carrington on Wednesday, following the completion of a five-day quarantine. Manchester United are hopeful Ronaldo can make his second debut against Newcastle this weekend.

After an inconsistent record at home last season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping for Ronaldo to boost his side, especially at Old Trafford. A victory against Newcastle on Saturday would mean back-to-back home wins in the Premier League for the first time since April this year.

United failed to win their last three home games last season but have started this season well, winning 5-1 against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United on the opening day.
