Manchester United made their acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo look ever so easy – almost like stealing candy from a toddler. The Old Trafford hierarchy flexed their muscles once again and just when Manchester City thought they had secured their biggest signing ever, they were swiftly sent back into their little box.
Some supporters, even if they’re in denial, will argue that Manchester City pulled out of the race to sign Ronaldo, leaving Manchester United as the only realistic option for the 36-year-old. Everyone knows that’s not true.
Former Manchester City player Trevor Sinclar was particularly happy to see the former Juventus man joining Pep Guardiola’s side last week, claiming that he is ‘exactly what Man City have been looking for’. Furthermore, Ronaldo would supposedly help their side win the Champions League for the first time. Sounds like the description of a world-class player.

When news broke that Ronaldo has rejected the opportunity to sign for City and, instead, decided to link up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford, Sinclair’s tone had significantly changed.
Suddenly, the intensity of the Premier League would be too much to handle for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Furthermore, he could not be relied on to feature regularly, despite making 33 appearances for Juventus in Serie A last season on his way to finishing as the division’s top scorer. It’s fascinating backtracking but nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to Sinclar.
