Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has delivered a furious reaction to Manchester United’s winning goal in today’s game. Mason Greenwood scored the goal after Paul Pogba was deemed to have made a fair challenge on Neves.
The goal from Greenwood, which meant he has now scored in all three of United’s games this season, was swiftly cast aside, and focus immediately turned towards Mike Dean and his team.
Pogba’s touch was too heavy but the 28-year-old won his duel with Neves and the tackle was fairly adjudged by Dean, despite delirious protests from the home side.
“Everyone saw it,” Neves is quoted as saying after the game by the Daily Star. “Everyone saw my leg, we always do meetings and everything with referees about VAR, I don’t know why
“They said before the season started they will look for contact – if the contact is strong enough, they will give the foul. I showed them my leg.

“I think maybe because last game it was a foul before the Southampton goal, maybe now they did the opposite. I showed my leg to the ref, I showed to the assistant ref, I cannot say anything more.
“After the game he said ‘you both go to the ball’ and I said ‘yes, we both go to win the ball but I was the one who touched the ball’. It’s a foul, a clear foul.”
Neves argued that circumstances surrounding Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Southampton last week could have influenced the referees when Bruno Fernandes was deemed to not have been fouled in the build-up to the first goal in that game.
The Portugal international was booked for dissent shortly after Greenwood’s goal as his protests proved to be in vain.
