The Premier League season is well and truly underway and after that euphoric victory against Leeds United last week, Manchester United were dealt a reality check as they left St. Mary’s with just one point.
Southampton started the game as the better side and although Manchester United grew into it, it was the hosts who would score the opening goal of the game.
Bruno Fernandes was dispossessed in his own half before Che Adams’ strike deflected off Fred, giving De Gea no chance of saving the effort.
The Saints’ lead would last just 10 minutes into the second half as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side made a clear improvement in their output. Paul Pogba was once again the difference-maker for his side as Mason Greenwood scored for the second game running.

Solskjaer has now delivered his verdict on the game: “Overall, I think we created enough chances to win it,” he told ManUtd.com
“Then again, we could have lost it. A very good save from David. It’s a point from a losing position but it’s not what we wanted.
“When they scored, that was more or less out of nowhere. It’s a foul, 100%. He goes straight through Bruno’s arms and his hip.”
