Rumour dismissed: Ander Herrera not rejoining Manchester United

Ander Herrera has been linked with a return to Manchester United, however, the latest on the story actually debunks speculation and it doesn’t look like the player will be back at Old Trafford anytime soon.

Reports suggest PSG are hoping to offload some players in a bid to trim their ludicrously large wage bill after signing Lionel Messi on a Bosman.

The trio reportedly being pushed out of Paris are Ander Herrera, Mauro Icardi and Idrissa Gueye (via The Guardian).

It is anyone’s guess who will buy them, but one United fan who is reliable for information on Twitter has debunked claims Herrera could be heading back to Old Trafford, where he previously spent five years.

Jonathan Shrager posted the following on social media: “In terms of today’s report which proposed a possible return to United for Ander Herrera, I am told that there is currently nothing in it.”

Having done good business so far this summer, with the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, United fans will be hoping for at least one midfield addition before the transfer window shuts.

A report from the Express states that United are now ready to abandon pursuits of Kieran Trippier, Saul Niguez, Eduardo Camavinga and Ruben Neves.

Meanwhile, James Garner is tipped to return to Nottingham Forest on loan.
