Swansea City want to conclude the loan signing of Manchester United defender Ethan Laird, as per reports.
The youngster is under contract until 2023 at Old Trafford but he could do with going out on loan and gaining first team experience.
Laird spent the second half of last season on loan with MK Dons in League 1, and jumping up to the Championship with Swansea would represent a step up. Russell Martin was his manager there and he’s kept the working relationship going strong after just been appointed Swansea boss.
According to TeamTalk, Martin wants the full-back as his first signing on another loan deal.

At least with a loan it leaves the door open for Laird to return to United and challenge for a place in the coming years — but the only way he can achieve that is by playing regular football and pushing himself out of his comfort zone.
Unfortunately Laird hasn’t been able to feature during United’s pre-season due to injury. It further diminished his chances of a breakthrough this season but that wasn’t on the cards anyway.
