Atletico Madrid identify Kieran Trippier replacement if United open chequebook

It appears there is some belief in reports from Spain that Kieran Trippier could leave Atletico Madrid for Manchester United this summer.

Mundo Deportivo (H/t Sport Witness) report Atletico have already identified a replacement in the name of Gonzalo Montiel, 24, who plays for River Plate in Argentina.

Diego Simeone is understood to be reluctant to sell Trippier, but Mundo claim Atleti want €40 million for his signature, and should United give in the La Liga champions would move to try and get a deal across the line for Montiel.

The report pinpoints United because it’s down to us whether two potential deals get done.

But according to Diario Sport in Spain, cited by The Sun, Trippier himself is now pushing to make his dream switch to Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old would see the move as a homecoming – hailing from nearby Bury.
