Manchester United are set to welcome Raphael Varane to the squad after announcing that a deal has been agreed in principle with Real Madrid over his transfer.

Varane’s arrival at the club could mean that first-team appearances will be limited even further for some players and Axel Tuanzebe, who has been tipped for a great future at the club, could benefit from a loan move this summer.

Tuanzebe made just nine appearances in the Premier League last season, starting four of them. And with Varane coming in, it’s likely that the 23-year-old star leaves the club on loan, with Newcastle interested in him.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted after his side’s 2-2 draw with Brentford that with Varane incoming, he could see Tuanzebe potentially leaving the club on loan.

“Of course, with Raphael coming in, I can see Axel going out (on loan),” he told ManUtd.com. “Because I have Varane, Maguire, Lindelof, and Eric Bailly and Phil Jones is coming back in.”

Jones, who failed to make a single appearance last season, is due back in training next week after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
