After several summers of reactive transfer dealings, Manchester United are being proactive this year. The club’s diligent work in the market this summer has seen them sign two of their top targets already.
Tom Heaton was the first incoming at the club but little significance is placed on his return to Old Trafford. Jadon Sancho was the first marquee signing after joining from Borussia Dortmund. The 21-year-old signed for the club last week after lengthy negotiations with the German club.
Furthermore, Raphael Varane’s impending transfer to Manchester United has been confirmed. Completion of the deal is subject to a medical, with all parties hopeful that the player can travel to Manchester as early as today.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the club prioritised Sancho and Varane but will now look at outgoings before bringing more players in. Kieran Trippier remains a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and according to the report, the former Tottenham player expects any potential move to United to materialise late in the window.
It’s understood that members of Trippier’s family are speaking confidently about his chances of joining Manchester United this summer after two years with Atletico Madrid.
