Van de Beek on the bench: Confirmed Man Utd XI v Brentford

Manchester United make their return to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening as they prepare to take on Brentford ahead of their first Premier League campaign.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side won their first warm-up game against Derby but succumbed to a heavy defeat seven days later as they conceded four goals to Queens Park Rangers.

Donny van de Beek, who struggled at the end of last season with a groin injury, pulled out of the Netherlands squad for this summer’s European Championship but has now returned to full training with the squad.

The Dutchman takes his place on the bench but is likely to make an appearance, with heavy rotation from Solskjaer expected once again.

Bruno Fernandes returned from holiday earlier this week but is not deemed fit enough to take part in the game. The Portuguese star could, instead, play in United’s next game against Preston this weekend.

Manchester United XI: Heaton; Wan-Bissaka, Tuanzebe, Mengi, Williams, Matic, Pereira, Elanga, Lingard, Mata, Greenwood
