On Tuesday evening, Manchester United announced that it had reached an agreement in principle with Real Madrid for the transfer of Raphael Varane.
The player is yet to complete a move, however, with a formal announcement subject to a medical and player terms being completed. Stretty News understands that both Manchester United and Raphael Varane are hopeful that the player could travel to Manchester as soon as Thursday this week.
The 28-year-old was one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top targets going into this summer and after signing Jadon Sancho last week, it looks like the Norwegian boss is getting his first-choice defensive target as well.
Although Varane is still a Real Madrid player on paper, the manager was quizzed on the matter following his side’s 2-2 draw with Brentford at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer on Varane: "Very happy that we've managed to get a deal with Real Madrid. He is a proven winner. He is a player we have followed for many years. Sir Alex was very close to signing him. With him we have different ways of playing." #MUFC
