Earlier on Monday, reports of Manchester United edging closer to securing a deal to sign Raphael Varane flooded social media. The 28-year-old is one of the most decorated defenders in world football and looks to be heading for a move to Old Trafford.
Just hours later, the transfer was given the ‘Here We Go’ treatment by journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, signalling that an agreement was close and that the move was cleared to be completed.
Several outlets followed suit and it soon became clear that a transfer was a question of when and not if. Several sources at Manchester United have told Stretty News editor Dale O’Donnell that they are hopeful Varane could go undergo a medical on Wednesday at the earliest.
