The imminent arrival of Raphael Varane may complicate matters for Axel Tuanzebe at Manchester United. The 23-year-old was tipped to have a great future at the club but a string of unlucky injuries has hampered his progress in recent years.
His exclusion from the team which lost the Europa League final earlier this year suggested that Tuanzebe was Solskjaer’s fourth choice but the arrival of Varane could have pushed him further down the pecking order.
And according to The Telegraph, Newcastle are now pressing ahead with an attempt to sign the defender. The publication claims that Steve Bruce’s side is hopeful of recruiting Tuanzebe as their first signing of the summer.
Tuanzebe made just nine appearances in the Premier League last season, starting four of those games. Eric Bailly, who signed a new contract earlier this year, is another player who could potentially have had his chances harmed with the signing of Varane.
