Manchester United are in talks to sign a new manager for the women’s team after Casey Stoney decided to leave the club earlier this summer.

Earlier this month, it was revealed by The Athletic that members of the Manchester United squad were ready to seek talks with the PFA to voice concerns over the club.

Players were reportedly unhappy with Stoney’s departure and the little activity shown afterwards to appoint a permanent replacement for the 39-year-old.

There are now, however, reports that the club are in ‘hopeful’ of appointing Orlando Pride head coach Marc Skinner as their new women’s team manager, with talks over the move ongoing with the Florida-based side.

That’s according to The Telegraph, who say that Skinner is the club’s first-choice target for the position but that some work remains on a potential deal as he is still contracted to Orlando Pride.

The report also shines a positive light on the previously disgruntled players, claiming that figures are ‘excited’ about the prospect of working with Skinner.
