Inter Milan chief speaks out on Alex Telles transfer interest

Manchester United left-back Alex Telles is being linked with a move to Inter Milan this summer, with the Italian outfit revealing they are in the hunt for a full-back.

The Brazilian defender joined United from FC Porto last summer and has been credited for Luke Shaw’s rise to prominence.

Telles only made 24 appearances in his debut season and will undoubtedly be aiming for more game time next term.

It would be strange timing for the club to allow him to leave on a season-long loan, unless a player like Kieran Trippier arrived because the Englishman is capable of playing on both flanks.

However, Inter are refusing to rule out the possibility of a summer move for Telles after chief executive Giuseppe Morotta confirmed interest in Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin as well as Telles.

“Hector Bellerin is a player we’re following… but I can’t say more,” he told Sky Sport Italia (cited by The Metro) before being asked about Telles.

“I can’t exclude this possibility but we’re making our plans and we’ll see. We’re now planning to keep our best platers after selling Hakimi.”

Meanwhile, Telles has made it clear that he wants to fight for his place at Old Trafford in an interview with United Daily: “I’m really happy to be back here. It’s a pleasure to be at Manchester United coming into my second season.

“Last season, we came really close to winning trophies, so we go into this next season with a lot of desire and I really want to show my work and my value here at the club.

“I know Manchester United Football Club and the fans really believe in me.”
