Manchester United have confirmed that former Chelsea youth coach Eric Ramsay has joined the first-team set up at the club in preparations for the new season.
Ramsay, who spent two years coaching Chelsea’s U23’s, will oversee one-on-one individual sessions with players as well as take immediate charge of the team’s set-piece training.
Having announced the arrival of Justin Cochrane last month, who has taken up a role as Head of Player Development, the club has further bolstered their staff with the arrival of Ramsay, while also weakening a rival in Chelsea.
The news of a set-piece coach arriving at the club will be welcomed by supporters after two seasons of calamitous defending from dead-ball situations.
Despite finishing second last season, much of the campaign was blighted by being vulnerable to set-pieces. Solskjaer’s side conceded three goals from their last three games from set-pieces, with one of them coming in the Europa League final loss to Villareal.
