According to recent reports, Jose Mourinho’s Roma is targeting Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly.

That’s according to Rome daily Il Tempo (as relayed by MEN), who claims the defender is wanted by his former manager.

Bailly, 27, was signed to United by Mourinho in 2016 following a £34.2m from Spanish side Villarreal.

Since arriving at Old Trafford five years ago, the flamboyant Ivorian has gone on to feature in just 106 matches, in all competitions.

Hampered by a series of injuries and fitness issues, the popular centre-back has continually struggled to cement a starting spot down in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first team.

Despite recently signing a new contract, recent speculation has linked the 27-year-old with a summer move away.

Although there have been recent links back to Villarreal for the defender, the latest club rumoured to be interested is Italian side Roma.

It has been claimed that Mourinho is ‘fond’ of Bailly and would love to sign him for a second time.

These reports come at the same time fellow defender Axel Tuanzebe is being urged to quit Old Trafford.
