Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has admitted that going into coaching is a target once his playing days are over. The former Serbia international has two years remaining on his Old Trafford contract, however, making an immediate transition look unlikely.
The 32-year-old is one of the most senior figures at Old Trafford and is often seen offering advice to younger players. The former Chelsea player is also said to be a positive influence at the training ground.
And Matic has now revealed that he is keen on going into coaching when the time is right but has insisted that playing is still very much his priority.
“My plan is to play football as much as I can, but I need to prepare my future, of course. I decided to be a coach, so we will see if I have the quality for that, of course,” Matic told United Daily, via ManUtd.com.
“The next step is the A licence. I want to finish that while I still play football. Then the Pro Licence, you need to finish your career.”
Juan Mata, also a senior player at Manchester United, has also been touted as a possible coach in the future. The Spaniard recently signed a one-year extension at the club, with some fans suggesting that a coaching role next year could be in the pipeline.
