Manchester United are pressing ahead with transfer plans after almost sealing the arrival of Jadon Sancho, according to reports. The 21-year-old winger’s impending transfer will allow the club to focus on other targets, with centre-back, a right-back and a midfielder all reportedly on the list.
Headlines have been dominated by the Sancho saga, but according to new reports, there is interest from the club in signing a midfielder. It is, however, suggested that a move could hinge on departures.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who claim that they are interested in a deep-lying midfielder, but are unlikely to sanction a ‘significant’ investment whilst Paul Pogba’s future is unresolved.
The 28-year-old has just one year remaining on his current deal at the club and could leave on a free transfer for the second time in 10 years in an embarrassing blow for the club.
Some reports have claimed that Pogba is in talks with the club over a contract extension and should the former Juventus midfielder commit to a new deal, a midfield reinforcement is unlikely.
