Paul Pogba downplays ridiculous claim his hairstyle at Euro 2020 was hint at transfer

Paul Pogba is focused on Euro 2020 and he understandably made it clear last night that he does not want to be drawn into a debate on his future.

The Manchester United midfielder laughed off suggestions that his new hairstyle could be a hint towards a transfer to Juventus — because it had been portrayed by some as a suggestion he would welcome a return to Turin.

After winning the World Cup in 2018, Pogba is set on adding a European Championship to his CV and he was quick to end the conversation about his hair.

Quizzed by a reporter from Sky Sport Italia after the match, on whether his appearance at Euro 2020 is a nod towards a move being in the works, Pogba said: “Is the black and white hair a signal for the future? I was expecting this question. There is no future now, only the European Championship. The hair changes often.”

Didier Deschamps’ side have topped the so-called ‘Group of Death’ and they will face Switzerland in the last-16. Pogba was excellent against Portugal in their final group stage match which finished 2-2, providing an assist for Karim Benzema’s second goal of the night.

He added: “This is a European Championship, it’s a very hard competition, the goal is to go all the way.

“The group did not scare us. We were prepared, we knew we were facing these teams and we knew it would be difficult. We finished first in the group, which was the goal, now we have the next round and we are confident.”

After backing France at the start of the tournament, I will be keeping a close eye on Pogba’s future impact in the national team. And I hope he can replicate that at United next season.
