Paul Pogba has just one year remaining on his contract at Manchester United and thus reports of a potential move emerge aplenty. The Frenchman has passed on every opportunity to rubbish rumours in the past three years and could leave the club for free next summer.
Losing their star midfielder for nothing would be a familiar feeling for the Old Trafford hierarchy, having done just that nine years ago when Mino Raiola masterminded Pogba’s exit in 2012.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus are interested in bringing the player back to Italy this summer but have been ‘surprised’ by Manchester United’s €80m valuation of the 28-year-old.
The publication goes on to say that Pogba’s potential return to the Old Lady has ‘marked’ the last transfer windows and is clearly a mission for the club, despite not being able to get a deal over the line in previous attempts.
The high asking price, however, is a problem for the Italian club. Juventus have been hit heavily by the coronavirus pandemic and €80m is ‘an investment beyond Juventus’ capabilities’.
The outlet also claims that Massimiliano Allegri’s return to Juventus has intrigued Pogba, who played under the former AC Milan manager for two seasons from 2014 to 2016.
