Manchester United’s chase of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho is set to continue this summer and the club is reportedly closer than ever to sealing the transfer. United’s pursuit of the former Manchester City youngster last year was calamitous but progress is said to have been made this year.

The German club refused to budge on their €120m valuation last year and United, in the belief that they were bluffing, walked right into their trap. Sancho ended up staying at the club and despite early struggles to the season, ended the campaign as one of their most important players.

Journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the situation, claiming that the saga will not drag on until the final week of the window again.

“For the first time, Manchester United, Dortmund and Jadon Sancho’s camp are optimistic and confident about a deal taking place this summer,” Romano said on the Here We Go Podcast. “The two clubs are still negotiating and it’s on United to complete the deal.

“The Jadon Sancho saga will not be long like last summer. If Sancho joins Manchester United, it will be quick negotiations — it will be a matter of weeks and will not last like until the end of August.”

Sancho, who has two years remaining on his contract, is believed to be valued at €90m by BVB this year – a big drop in valuation.
