Rio Ferdinand has made it clear who he wants to see Manchester United sign this summer.
It won’t be a big surprise to anyone that both players are in the England squad at Euro 2020, with Declan Rice and Jadon Sancho regularly labelled targets in the media.
While there appears to be progress made on the Sancho front, I’d question whether United would really follow up such a purchase with another expensive player. There’s talk of a ridiculous valuation on Rice’s head which is going to price him out of a move.
News emerged last week via The Guardian that both Man City and United could make a move to land the midfielder, with both manager’s keen to improve their squads ahead of next season.
United finished second in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final against Villarreal, so with Champions League qualification in the bag they will need to go a step further next term.
Ferdinand was asked on Twitter what number 6 United should sign in the summer, and he replied: “Welcome @_DeclanRice.”
He was also asked about the possibility of landing Sancho this summer.
“Yes… just driving to Manchester now to get it done! Come on @Sanchooo10.”
