Domestic rivals Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Manchester United chiefs over a possible summer transfer of midfielder Donny van de Beek.

That’s according to 90min, who claims the Dutch midfielder has emerged as a transfer target for Mikel Arteta.

van de Beek, 24, only joined United last summer – however, after struggling to cement his place down in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team plans, the Dutchman has continually found himself on his side’s bench.

Having started just four Premier League matches all season last time out, speculation surrounding the 24-year-old’s long-term future was always going to be rife.

Well, according to 90min, the midfielder’s lack of playing now sees him wanted by Arsenal with the Gunners understood to have already made contact with United.

It has been claimed that despite the midfielder’s European Championships campaign being cut short through injury, Arsenal have asked the Red Devils to keep them up to speed with the player’s situation.

Since arriving at Old Trafford 12-months ago, van de Beek has featured in 36 matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to four goals, along the way.
