Southampton and Norwich reignite interest in Man United full-back

Brandon Williams in action for Manchester United.

Manchester United are braced for a busy summer with many outgoings expected and Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been handed a boost in his pursuit of trimming his bloated squad. Brandon Williams, scarcely used by the manager, was the subject of interest from Southampton last year and according to reports, Hasenhuttl’s side will reignite their interest in 2021.

Williams featured just four times in the Premier League last season, only starting twice. Solskjær’s pursuit of a right-back is likely to even further dim the lights on the full-back’s short Old Trafford career.

According to Hampshire Live, interest in Williams remains from Southampton, but the St. Mary’s club are set to target other options before going for the United youngster.

The report claims that Williams is keen on more first-team action and is also the subject of interest from newly-promoted Norwich City. Southampton are also said to be prioritising a loan move, rather than making a permanent push for Williams.

The 20-year-old emerged last season as an emergency solution to Luke Shaw but impressed in his first campaign and will be hoping for Premier League interest this summer in hunt of first-team experience.
