Harry Kane wants to leave Tottenham this summer and Old Trafford has been touted as a possible destination for the Tottenham talisman, but negotiations with Daniel Levy are set to be challenging should United try to pursue a deal.
The two Manchester clubs are seen as the most realistic options for Kane, but with three years remaining on his current contract, his fate lies in the hands of his club.
Manchester United are believed to have been monitoring the situation and hold an interest in the striker but recognise that any deal to sign him would wreck their transfer budget.
Tottenham is rarely inclined to sell their star players to Premier League clubs and will demand an astronomical fee, north of the current Premier League record set by United, to sanction a sale.
Rio Ferdinand believes that Manchester United and Manchester City players will be speaking to their England captain during Euro 2020 in an attempt to sway the forward their way.
“That happened when I went to the World Cup with Nicky Butt, Becks in the United team. Talked about me coming to United,” Ferdinand told The Mirror. “That was speculation in the paper. That happens, every tournament, every get together. Players talking to players. I’m sure managers have said ‘speak to him for me and find out what he’s like’.”
Kane, 27, is unlikely to force a transfer this summer but is ready to move should someone stump up the required cash.
