Manchester United have announced a new appointment of head of player development for the academy and its coaching. Justin Cochrane was revealed as the clubs signing on Tuesday, leaving the FA to take on a role at Carrington.
Cochrane joins Manchester United after three years with the FA, where he was youth development phase lead and England U17 lead coach.
The young coach has many years of experience despite his young age for a coach, having begun his career at the age of 17. The 39-year-old spent nine years at Tottenham Hotspur, working as assistant head of player and coach development, before also working closely with the clubs U23 players.
“I am delighted that Justin has joined us as we continue to build on our achievements over recent years,” Nick Cox, Manchester United head of academy, told ManUtd.com on the exciting appointment. “Justin brings a wealth of experience that further enhances the excellent group of staff that we have throughout the Academy.”
Cochrane has been a pillar in the FA’s youth development and spent time with Gareth Southgate’s senior squad in their Euro 2020 preparations. He will commence work starting pre-season from age groups U17 – U23.
