Jadon Sancho was in action for England as the Three Lions overcame a resilient Romania side to win 1-0. The Dortmund winger is expected to be a regular in Gareth Southgate’s side in this summers European Championships but is currently the subject of constant speculation, amid negotiations with Manchester United.
A transfer before England start their campaign on June 13 is appearing unlikely but reports last week claim that there is optimism over a move this summer. Manchester United have ‘re-started’ talks with Sancho’s entourage but no official bid has been lodged from the club.
According to The Times, Manchester United are ‘moving closer’ to reaching an agreement with Borussia Dortmund after the German club lowered their asking price. United were priced out of a move last year, when they balked at a £109m demand.
There are conflicting reports from Germany, where Ruhr Nachrichten claim that there has been no official talks between Dortmund and United but that ‘framework for an agreement is openly on the table’.
With England’s Euro 2020 campaign scheduled to begin in just six days, they are unlikely to allow Sancho to undergo a medical whilst on international duty. All signs are pointing towards a positive conclusion for Manchester United, but they may have to wait until after the tournament to complete the deal.
