Manchester United have been alerted after it was revealed that Wolves could be ready to sell Ruben Neves in order to fund new arrivals this summer. The Portugal international is an integral part of their midfield and top clubs in Europe are reportedly monitoring the situation.
The Athletic (£) revealed last month that with the clubs planned to rebuild this summer, they would be open to letting Ruben Neves go in a deal which could see the midlands club earn £35 million.
Manchester United are in the hunt for a midfielder and have made contact with Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of Harry Winks, but it remains to be seen whether the club will pursue Ruben Neves.
The Times now report that Arsenal have begun talks with Wolves over a transfer, signalling that they are open to letting the former Porto man leave.
If United are serious about strengthening their midfield, one would think that they are keeping an eye on the situation and could potentially swoop in to wreck Arteta’s dream. The London club have already been dealt huge blow this summer after Emi Buendia chose Aston Villa over them.
United are currently well stocked in midfield, with Pogba, Fred, Matic, McTominay and Van de Beek all capable of playing there. But questions remain over their abilities to shield United’s backline.
