Manchester United are ‘making efforts’ to sign AC Milan playmaker Hakan Çalhanoğlu, according to reports. The Turkish international is out of contract this summer and it doesn’t look like he will be extending his stay at the San Siro.

Çalhanoğlu, who has scored four goals and assisted a further 9 in the Serie A this season, has been integral to the Milano side as they returned to the Champions League for the first time since 2014.

AC Milan are said to have wanted Çalhanoğlu to stay as they continue their rebuild but the two parties have failed to agree on a contract, leaving the 27-year-old out of contract in less than a month.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Manchester United are ‘making efforts’ to sign the midfielder this summer whilst Juventus are also thought to be interested.

It seems unlikely that Solskjær would want another creative midfielder, having already signed Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek in addition to Paul Pogba.

It could, however, prove to be shrewd business on a free transfer if United went ahead with the signing.
