Reports: Jose Mourinho’s Roma join Man United and Arsenal in race for Brighton defender

Having sealed his latest job, manager Jose Mourinho is already eyeing his first signing with Brighton and Hove Albion’s Ben White a player the Portuguese tactician reportedly wants.

White, 23, joined Brighton’s under-18s in 2014 after making the switch from Southampton’s youth academy.

Since his arrival, the young Englishman, with the help of several successful loan spells, has gone on to cement his place in the Seagull’s first-team plans.

Paired up alongside the experienced and commanding Lewis Dunk, White has enjoyed a decent rise in England’s top-flight.

Widely regarded as one of the league’s most underrated technical centre-backs, White has recently seen his name linked with a move to some of the country’s biggest clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal.

However, according to a recent report from The Sun, White is now attracting interest from further afield.

Since being named as Roma’s new manager, The Sun claim that Mourinho is a big admirer of White and could look to rival United and Arsenal in the race for the 23-year-old’s signature.

The Sun report that Brighton are confident they can demand at least £45m for the centre-back’s services.

United have been linked with signing a new defender for quite some time and although Eric Bailly’s recent contract extension came as good news, the Ivorian’s new deal is believed to not have changed the club’s stance when it comes to sounding out defensive reinforcements, as per MEN.
